WANDER ART TRAIL - FABRIQUES

Functional sculptures created as part of the Wanderart project, an outdoor gallery trail that could be explored through Mayfair and Belgravia. The project was curated by Alterprojects, commissioned by Belgravia London and produced by The White Wall Company.

ABOUT FABRIQUES

On discovering that the intriguing shell huts in Grosvenor Gardens were designed by French architect Jean Charles Moreux and known as ‘Fabriques’ - ‘a small picturesque building intended for the ornament of a park, particularly an English garden’ - Emily decided to celebrate these fanciful cross-cultural constructions by creating a series of Fabriques of her own. Exploring an 18th century tradition through a contemporary and colourful lens, the structures allowed Emily to reflect the Regency architecture of Belgravia itself while playing with different forms, periods and styles of architecture - from kiosks, bridges, obelisks, pavilions and rotundas to grottos, towers and temples.
